About us

Our Story

Our company was started in 2009 by Francis R. Antoine, PhD, Joline E. Antoine (nee Wonder), BAed, and Lester A. Shevon Antoine, BA.  The Antoines of Beauregard have had a long history of being industrious people, known to be self-reliant, independent and creative as far back as the latter part of the 1800s. In the first decade of the 1900s, our great grandmother Princess Marshall (the first child of Prince Marshall), became involved in the commercial baking of leaven bread.
That endeavor was transferred to our grandmother Irene Archibald (nee Charles), who was also a well-known confectioner in the Birch Grove community. Her peppermint candies were widely sought after, as was her custard ice cream.
It was that exposure to Irene's confectioneries that really got Francis interested in food processing at a very early age.
You see, Francis used to be involved in Irene's cottage industry operations. That interest in food processing was also augmented by assisting his mom in the production of homemade hams, wines, and preserves. These early kernels were further nurtured when Francis began listening and learning from George I. Brizan, his history and later his economics teacher at the Grenada Boys Secondary School. George I. Brizan was truly an inspiration.

The family's industrious history also flowed on our father's side of the clan.  Clayton, the son of an agricultural estate manager Jonathan Antoine, was the most accomplished tailor in the community.  He was self-taught and skilled at using the French curves to lay out his jacket patterns to produce custom-made suits. As a result, the family's first experience with the French curves was through their dad's tailoring.

It is evident that the Antoines of Beauregard have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. It is in pursuit of this rich family history of resourcefulness, self-reliance and industry that Antoine de Beauregard Enterprises was forged.  "Because of our ongoing and persistent hard work, dedication, determination and continuous learning, Francis with the unwavering and persistent support and encouragement of his wife Joline, and our partner Shevon, we were able to start this company in 2009.  It was not without difficulties and tremendous sacrifices that we were finally able to get Antoine de Beauregard Enterprises, Inc. (ABE) going."

The Woodman Rum brand has been the platform for ABE’s overall business plan.  The brand remains the flagship of ABE as the company currently embarks on the second phase of its business plan.  That second phase is the implementation of the “Isle O’ Spice Flavors” spice and essential oils subsidiary business enterprise.  Through research and development ABE is currently preparing for the establishment of its subsidiary company ISF.  The plan is to later implement the third, but not necessarily the final, stage of ABE’s business plan.  That will be the establishment of Antoine Wonder Manufacturing, Inc. (AWM) for the purpose of fruit and vegetable processing.

We thank you for visiting, and for your interest in our story. We hope you enjoy the rest of your journey with us.  Thank you!
